Jayson Bishop, Associate Principal Cello
Associate Principal Cello
Jayson Bishop is the Associate Principle Cellist of the Amarillo Symphony, and has been with the Symphony for 10 years! Outside of the Symphony Jayson performs around town and surrounding communities, teaches cello, and has recently returned to Barnes Jewelry as a part-time Graduate Gemologist!
Jayson began playing the cello at age 10. “The cello has always been there for me over many years of little or no playing”, says Jayson. “For the past 10 years, I’ve grown to appreciate that more than ever as I have (almost) been a full time player, teacher, and student of the instrument”. Jayson has a BA in Liberal Arts from Stony Brooks University and a masters of Music Performance from WTAMU.
Jayson’s hobbies include collecting watches and vinyl records, and exercising with Peloton alongside his wife, Andria. He enjoys spending time with his three girls Rowan, Piper, and Norah and his two older sons Spencer and Zach.
Jayson is the youngest of 5 boys, all musicians at some level all the way up to a GRAMMY-nominated songwriter with a No. 1 single!
Thank you Jayson for all you do for the Amarillo Symphony and the music in our community!
