The Amarillo Symphony announces the following vacancies for the 2025-2026 Season, as of 2/10/2025:

English Horn/Auxiliary Oboe
Principal Percussion
Viola, Chair 4
Bass, Chair 6
Substitute – all strings (Violin, Viola, Cello & Bass)

LOCAL Auditions will be held in Amarillo, Texas at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts:

· English Horn – Saturday, March 1, 2025
· Percussion – Saturday, March 22, 2025
· All Strings – Saturday, March 22, 2025

NOTE – vacancy lists will be updated following local auditions and service agreement renewals. OPEN auditions will take place in the fall. Please check back in early July 2025 for updates.

All candidates must register for an audition with the Operations Director no later than Friday, February 21, 2025 (English Horn) and Friday, March 14, 2025 (Percussion). To reserve an audition time and receive an audition packet, please send a one-page resume and a $25.00 refundable deposit (make check payable to Amarillo Symphony) to:

Should an audition result in additional openings within a section, the Audition Committee reserves the right to name a winner for the vacated seat based on the auditions heard for the posted vacancy. In the event that the Audition Committee deems that two or more candidates are artistically comparable, the Amarillo Symphony reserves the right to use information concerning an applicant’s distance from Amarillo and season availability to determine the winner of an audition. “Local” shall be defined as residing within a 120-mile radius of Amarillo TX, which includes cities such as Canyon, Hereford, Pampa, Tulia, Plainview and Lubbock. AC/WTAMU students who have permanent residence out-of-town but are enrolled and reside in Amarillo/Canyon during the school year, as well as current tenured orchestra members in good standing, are eligible for the local-only auditions.
