The Amarillo Symphony announces the following vacancies for the 2026-2027 Season (as of 7/14/2026):

NOTE – Piccolo and Oboe auditions will be for LOCAL candidates only. Brass, Percussion and Strings auditions will be OPEN to any candidate; however, travel reimbursements are limited so please feel free to inquire with any questions.

AUDITION DATES

• PICCOLO & OBOE – auditions will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2026

• PERCUSSION & STRINGS – auditions will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026

• HORN & TROMBONE – auditions will be held on Saturday, October 24

All auditions will be held in Amarillo, Texas, at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts.

All candidates must register for an audition with the Operations Director – piccolo/oboe no later than Monday, August 31, 2026, percussion/strings no later than Monday, September 7, 2026, and brass no later than Monday, October 12, 2026. To reserve an audition time and receive an audition packet, please send a one-page resume and a $25.00 refundable deposit (make check payable to Amarillo Symphony) to:

Should an audition result in additional openings within a section, the Audition Committee reserves the right to name a winner for the vacated seat based on the auditions heard for the posted vacancy. In the event that the Audition Committee deems that two or more candidates are artistically comparable, the Amarillo Symphony reserves the right to use information concerning an applicant’s distance from Amarillo and season availability to determine the winner of an audition. “Local” shall be defined as residing within a 120-mile radius of Amarillo TX, which includes cities such as Canyon, Hereford, Pampa, Tulia, Plainview and Lubbock. AC/WTAMU students who have permanent residence out-of-town but are enrolled and reside in Amarillo/Canyon during the school year, as well as current tenured orchestra members in good standing, are eligible for the local-only auditions.
