The Amarillo Symphony is honored to be one of two recipients of a Midori residency facilitated by the Orchestra Residencies Program (ORP). Midori, a visionary artist with a commitment to education, will be in Amarillo for 4 days in March of 2024, where she will engage with and teach the students of the Amarillo Symphony Youth Orchestra. While Midori is in residence with the ASYO, she will coach individual students, a student trio, and our full ASYO membership; perform for students at several high schools throughout Amarillo; and after 4 days of rehearsals and clinics, perform alongside the Youth Orchestra musicians in a culminating concert at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts.

Midori’s concerts with the ASYO are part of her Orchestra Residencies Program, a collaborative musical and educational project with youth orchestras which seeks to provide meaningful experiences for the next generation of musicians and music lovers.

Midori will perform with the Amarillo Symphony Youth Orchestras on Sunday, March 24 at 2:00pm at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts.

Midori is a visionary artist, activist and educator who explores and builds connections between music and the human experience and breaks with traditional boundaries, which makes her one of the most outstanding violinists of our time.

As someone deeply committed to furthering humanitarian and educational goals, she has founded several non-profit organizations. Midori & Friends provides music programs for New York City youth and communities, and MUSIC SHARING, a Japan-based foundation, brings both Western classical and Japanese music traditions into young lives in Japan and throughout Asia by presenting programs in schools, institutions, and hospitals.
