Amarillo Symphony's January and February concert moved to the Civic Center Auditorium
The Amarillo Symphony’s performances on January 20th and 21st, 2023, Beethoven: “Emperor” Concerto, and on February 24th and 25th, 2023, Star Wars and Beyond: An Evening of John Williams! will be moved to the Amarillo Civic Center Auditorium due to water damage in the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts (GNC).
On Christmas Eve, a water line on the fire suppression system broke on the third floor of the GNC, causing substantial damage, according to the City of Amarillo. The City of Amarillo Facilities Department repaired the leak, and the drying process and flood remediation began immediately on December 24.
Due to already scheduled events at the Civic Center Auditorium on February 25th, both Symphony concerts will be on Friday, February 24th, at 6:00 pm and 8:30 pm. Friday night patrons will be automatically placed in the 6:00 pm performance and Saturday night patrons will be placed in the 8:30 pm performance. If you prefer a different time than your automatic placement you may request that change by completing this form or by calling the Symphony office at 806.376.8782.
Tickets for the February 24th performances at 6:00pm & 8:30pm are available here.
We have seen so much grace in the community’s response to our January concert location change, and we thank you for your patience as we adjust for our February concert as well.

We are very grateful to the Civic Center and the City for responding quickly and decisively to remediate the water damage to the Globe-News Center. Although we miss our home in the Globe-News Center, we are thankful to have a second performance space available so we may continue performing music for the Texas Panhandle community!
Thank you for your understanding and support.
