Annual fall concert will be held Sunday, November 8, 2015
AMARILLO, TEXAS – (November 2, 2015) – The Amarillo Symphony, (www.amarillosymphony.org), the leader of orchestral music in the Texas Panhandle since 1924, today announces that the Amarillo Youth Orchestra returns to the Globe-News Center for their annual fall performance on Sunday, November 8 at 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
The Amarillo Symphony values music education for all and strives to provide an accessible opportunity for youth to engage themselves. Recognizing the quality of a youth orchestra experience, the Amarillo Symphony maintains the founding philosophy that any student, regardless of socioeconomic status, will have the opportunity to study music and perform in an orchestra.
The Amarillo Youth Orchestra employs a model to develop young musicians and builds upon each year of participation. The Amarillo Youth Orchestra is currently comprised of four ensembles, including: Amarillo Preparatory Strings, Amarillo Youth Sinfonia, Amarillo Youth Philharmonic, and Amarillo Youth Symphony.
“The Amarillo Youth Orchestra fall concert is going to be such a wonderful time! The children have worked diligently throughout the semester to present this fun and exciting music to their family and friends,” said Irma Borup, Education Coordinator for the Amarillo Symphony. Of course, none of it would be possible without the exquisite leadership of our hardworking Youth Orchestra directors. Join us for a delightful afternoon of music and in celebrating the great efforts of our Amarillo youth!”
The Amarillo Youth Preparatory Strings and Sinfonia will perform at 2:00 pm and the Amarillo Youth Philharmonic and Youth Symphony will perform at 4:00 pm on Sunday, November 8. Tickets for this performance are available for $10 including fees and may be purchased by calling 806-376-8782.
