The Amarillo Symphony’s 2018-2019 Season Premieres with The Four Seasons Reimagined! | The Amarillo Symphony

AMARILLO, TEXAS – (September 3, 2018) – The Amarillo Symphony, (, the leader of orchestral music in the Texas Panhandle since 1924, kicks of the 2018-2019 season with The Four Seasons Reimagined on Friday & Saturday, September 14 & 15, 2018 at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts.

The Amarillo Symphony will be joined by violinist Jennifer Frautschi to perform Four – A reimagining of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons. The concert will also feature Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 the “Italian” Symphony.

“It is my great honor and privilege to begin my 6th season as Music Director for your Amarillo Symphony with a program of genre-bending and music reimagined,” said Jacomo Bairos, Music Director and Conductor. “I am so thrilled that we are combining the Italian spirit, style, and passion of Italian influences together for a thrilling evening of music making. Mendelssohn captures the colors and atmosphere of Italy so vividly and his interpretation of Mediterranean life and landscape informed every note of this vibrant Symphony.”

Two-time Grammy nominee and Avery Fisher grant recipient Jennifer Frautschi joins the Amarillo Symphony for the 2018-2019 Season Opening concerts. Ms. Frautschi has garnered worldwide acclaim as an adventurous musician with a remarkably wide-ranging repertoire.

“Sam Hyken, takes the soul and heart of Vivaldi’s masterpiece the Four Seasons and reimagines it in a contemporary context,” said Jacomo Bairos. Drawing its inspiration completely from the original version, Sam Hyken genre bends this work, adding flavors of Jazz, Swing, Rock and even some cool electronics to reinvent this classic work in a unique and special designed to speak to society today. This season is our most grandiose and powerful yet. I am so grateful to be leading our fabulous Symphony into this new season and new year together!”

The Four Seasons Reimagined will be held at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, September 14 and Saturday, September 15 at 7:30 pm.
