SYMPHONY GUILD MISSION

The mission of the Symphony Guild is to support and augment the programs of the Amarillo Symphony in the development of its orchestra and to educate and stimulate appreciation of music in the community.

The Amarillo Symphony Guild held its first meeting in May of 1955 with Mrs. George Hammock as the presiding Guild President.  Since its inception, this arts auxiliary continues to raise awareness and the necessary funds to expand the Symphony’s reach into our community.

The first fundraising event in 1955 is still alive and well today and is known as the SYMPHONY BALL.  In 1962, the Guild initiated a project originally named Symphony Sweethearts.  That original program has evolved into the Belles & Beaux program and the number of participants continue to grow with each concert season.

In addition to the SYMPHONY BALL, the Guild’s additional fundraising projects include VINTAGE AMARILLO held biennially.

LUNCH AND LISTENING is one of the Guild’s educational programs. Other programs supported by the Guild are: INSTRUMENT EXPRESS and YOUNG ARTIST PROJECT.  The Guild also provides volunteers to assist with SYMPHONY KIDS, KINDERKONZERTS and ORCHESTRA COURTESY.

We welcome you to join us in continuing our tradition of supporting the Amarillo Symphony. The Guild is comprised of an amazing group of talented individuals of all ages and many varied areas to volunteer.
