ASYO Preparatory Strings
ASYO’s youngest ensemble
Tuition: $90/Spring 2021
Alejandra Attebury, Conductor
Preparatory Strings focuses on developing skillful music reading ability, including fluid note recognition, rhythmic coordination, and basic instrumental technique. Young musicians build foundational skills necessary to play a broader variety of repertoire. Students do not need to audition to join this ensemble.
Rehearsals are held weekly on Monday afternoons (through the academic year) from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the Amarillo College Music Building, Washington campus. For specifics, please view the 2020-2021 Preparatory Strings Rehearsal Schedule.
To meet the Amarillo College COVID-19 protocol, rehearsal times have been reduced to a 1-hour string orchestra rehearsal with conductor, Alejandra Attebury, and ASYO coaching staff.
Participating students must have at least one semester of experience with a school string ensemble and are expected to be active in the school music program that complements the student’s instrumental focus in ASYO. We wish to enhance, not replace, school programs. Please view the Required Signatures form.
NO AUDITION IS NECESSARY TO JOIN THE PREPARATORY STRINGS.
Those participating in the Preparatory Strings must have at least one semester of experience playing with a school string ensemble.
