Ben Korzelius, horn
Ben Korzelius
The moment Ben Korzelius picked up the French horn in middle school, he found his passion and calling. Ben has been performing with the Amarillo Symphony for two years. What he loves about the horn is its strength and role in performances.
“There’s something magical about the horn’s ability to cut through the orchestra with both warmth and power,” Ben said. “Whether it’s blending into the fabric of a Brahms symphony or soaring above the ensemble in a Mahler finale, the horn has this emotional depth and resonance that I find endlessly inspiring. It’s an instrument that demands both precision and courage.”
Ben has been playing the horn for over twenty years, and when he’s not performing with the Amarillo Symphony, he educates students of varying levels in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area.
“I’m passionate about helping young musicians find their voice and grow in confidence through music,” Ben said.
Outside of music, Ben spends his time hiking, playing video games, and reading. He enjoys reading about various topics, including psychology, creativity, and performance. He also tries to spend time outdoors to reset and refocus between concerts and teaching.
“I’m incredibly grateful to be part of the Amarillo Symphony family,” Ben said. “The energy from the audiences here is always special, and it’s an honor to contribute to that musical experience. Music has taken me through every chapter of life—from small-town stages to large concert halls—and I’m proud to continue growing as both a performer and educator.”
