String Family

An Amarillo Symphony String Quintet

Appropriate for Teachers & Students: 3rd-4th grade

Celebrate Music in Your Classroom!

An Amarillo Symphony string quintet – composed of two violins, a viola, a cello, and a string bass – visits area elementary schools annually to give 3rd-grade students an introduction to the different string instruments.

This interactive presentation celebrates music through tunes of familiar holiday, party, and seasonal songs. Students learn the names of the instruments, the relative ranges of pitch, and how the bow works to make the strings sound. Students learn how music’s power can, with the playing of a simple melody, transport them from feelings of reverence to overpowering joy.

To learn more about the String Family and book them to visit YOUR CLASSROOM, call the Amarillo Symphony Education staff at (806) 376-8782, x1115 or send an email to irma@amarillosymphony.org.
