This past school year, our education programs reached 18,829 students! Through our programs, we strive to inspire, educate, and unite youth of this region through the power of music!
Amarillo Symphony Youth Orchestra
- • 373 budding musicians cultivated
- • 4 ensembles based on skill level
- • 4 performances at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts
- • February 2025: Amarillo Symphony / Youth Symphony Side-by-Side concerts (Friday + Saturday night performances)
Greater Southwest Music Festival
- • 3 full days of valuable, musical performance and competition
- • 9,774 students served at Amarillo College, the Civic Center, and the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts
- • Prestigious, state-recognized judges
- • Concerts + Clinics:
- the return of the WTAMU Showcase of Music; performance by the AC Concert Choirs & Vocal Jazz; Student Leadership Workshop with renowned educator and clinician, Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser
- • Performing “Best Overall” ensembles at Awards Ceremony
Kinderkonzerts
- • 4,782 students and teachers accessed live, professional music
- • Chamber orchestra performance of Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf with live dancers from LanDance Ballet depicting the story’s characters
- • Engaging K-2nd grade students
- • 85% of schools reached were Title I schools
Class Act
- • Amarillo Symphony principal string (quartet) musicians in classrooms and senior living communities
- • 1,740 students and 240 seniors reached
- • Interactive performances for audiences of all ages
String Family
- • Professional string quintet demonstrating string instruments to young students
- • Every 3rd grade classroom (~2,160 students) in Amarillo ISD visited
- • The world of orchestral stringed instruments opened to students!
